An old soul Dougie (he/him) blends soaring melodies and heartfelt Lyrics.
From humble beginnings he began songwriting at a young age, touring with rock bands across the UK, culminating in a tour as the vocalist for Dave ‘Bucket’ Colwell of ‘Bad Co.’ fame.
His debut self-produced album “Black Water Son” (2013) was raw, a young man returning to his roots as one man, a guitar and lyrics that showed a maturity beyond his years.
In search of new inspiration, Scottish-born Dougie has traversed the globe, collecting stories and settled in British Columbia, where he is making a name for himself as a powerful and dynamic alternative folk songwriter.
Dougie is proud to have played a sold-out show in the iconic Scottish Venue, King Tuts Wah Wah Hut, played festivals including Belladrum UK, Summerset BC, The Edinburgh Fringe Festival, VMF, BC, and supported Gerry Cinnamon in the UK. He’s showcased at Folk Alliance.
Dougie is proud to have been nominated for the SAMAs (Scottish Alternative Music Awards)for his songwriting and his live performance.
Dougie is honoured to be a Godin Guitars Artist here in Canada and previously represented Tanglewood Guitars as an ambassador in the UK.
Dougie is currently in the studio recording new music, his first single in over 10 years “Lungs” will be released in April 2025. A live video will be released alongside the single.
“Lungs” was produced by Matt Di Pomponio, whose production credits include; Dear Rouge, Monowhales, and Black Pontiac.
Dougie is one half of the Indie Folk/Roots duo, What We Embrace, who were a Break Out West featured artist in 2024.
After the release of “Lungs” Dougie will be releasing more curated singles over the next year, culminating in an EP in 2026.
In 2025/26, Dougie hopes to showcase with Breakout West and other festivals, work with sync opportunities, and continue to build the community he has been creating and cultivating.
